The endless Nordic summer, properly planned
Private trips through the Nordic summer — fjord drives at golden hour, archipelago days on wooden boats, midnight sun dinners and evenings that don't end.

5 – 12 days
Slow & scenic
Late May – early September
What does midnight sun actually feel like?
Less itinerary, more atmosphere. Fewer activities, but the right ones at the right time. These are the principles we plan around.
Privacy, before everything
Small lodges over big hotels. Private cars, never shared shuttles. No groups on the boat.
One moment per day
Each day shaped around one beautiful experience — a fjord cruise at golden hour, a wilderness sauna evening. Everything else is breathing room.
Locations that don't share well
The places we choose are not on the obvious lists: quieter, harder to find online and worth the longer transfer.
Each summer month has a character
Nordic summer is short and changes fast. June is not July is not August — choose the month that suits the trip you want.
The opening of summer
Snow lingers only in the north, and the midnight sun begins above the Arctic Circle in late May. Fewer crowds, softer prices, more room choice than July.
Temperatures 12 – 20°C
Light Long evenings · midnight sun in the north
The solstice month
Peak midnight sun and white nights. Warm in the south, cool and bright in the north, with Midsummer in late June. The most Nordic month — and our favourite.
Temperatures 15 – 22°C
Light 19 – 24 hours · peak white nights
The warmest month
The warmest sea, occasional 25–28°C heatwaves in the south, and fjords at their fullest with snowmelt waterfalls. The busiest month: book hotels and ferries 4+ months ahead.
Temperatures 18 – 25°C
Light 18 – 24 hours · full midnight sun
The quiet end
Locals back at work, lakes still warm, the archipelago at its best. Late August brings darker evenings and a chance of the first aurora in the far north.
Temperatures 14 – 22°C
Light Long days returning to normal nights
Are you here for the fjords, or the rest of it?
Nordic summer pulls in two directions. Whichever leads shapes the route, the destinations and the pace.

A six-day private Stockholm journey for travellers who want to go deeper into Swedish design, art and food. Five nights at Ett Hem anchor specialist city touring, Artipelag by private boat, a seasonal forest-to-table day and a carefully paced Drottningholm finale.

Private Copenhagen Design Tour: Danish Icons & the New Nordic Table | 6 Days
A six-day private Copenhagen journey for travellers who want to understand Danish design rather than simply shop for it. Five nights at Hotel Sanders anchor private museum visits, specialist architecture, studio appointments, a private food tour and one major culinary evening.

The Essential Norway | Private Oslo to Bergen Fjord Tour
A carefully paced private journey connecting Oslo and Bergen through the mountains and fjords. Scenic rail travel, two nights beside Aurlandsfjord and a private Nærøyfjord RIB experience give Norway’s classic route more time and space.

Private Stockholm Tour: Royal City & Archipelago, 5 Days
Guidance DMC’s Signature Sweden Journey brings together Stockholm’s royal landmarks, maritime history and design culture with a full private day in the archipelago. Premium transfers and unhurried timing keep the stay smooth from arrival to departure.
The experiences Nordic summer is built around
We choose three or four that fit your trip. Everything else is slow days, scenic drives and meals on wooden decks.

A midnight sun dinner
An outdoor table on a wooden deck, dinner at 11pm in full daylight in late June. The light alone is the dish.

A private fjord cruise
A small charter through Nærøyfjord or Geirangerfjord at late golden hour, when the day-trippers have gone and the fjord falls silent. Champagne if you wish.

A sauna and lake evening
A wood-fired sauna by a still Finnish lake, just your group. Sauna, lake plunge, repeat, until the light softens at 1am, then dinner outside or in the cabin.

A Lofoten road trip
Three or four days driving the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle: red rorbuer cabins, peaks dropping into the sea and white-sand beaches that seem impossible this far north.

A Stockholm archipelago day
A private boat through the 30,000 islands east of Stockholm. Lunch on an island, swimming off the rocks and an evening sauna at a small island hotel.

A hiking day under midnight sun
One proper hiking day within a slower trip: Trolltunga, Preikestolen, a Lofoten ridge or a gentler Lapland trail, with a private guide and a picnic on top.
Where summer travels
Each region offers a different Nordic summer. The best trips often combine two or three — we'll suggest the mix that fits your time.
The summer details, sorted
Summer has its own details: peak-season bookings, sleep in 24-hour daylight, ferry timings. These are the ones we routinely take care of.
Blackout-ready rooms
Rooms with proper blackout curtains, and eye masks if you want them. Sleep matters when the sun won't set.
Late dinner reservations
Tables at 9pm or 10pm rather than 7, when the light is at its best.
Peak-season hotel access
July books up 4–6 months ahead in Norway and the archipelago. We hold your rooms early at our partner properties.
Private cars & ferries
Every transfer by private car. Ferries booked in advance, including the tricky Lofoten and Geirangerfjord crossings, with timings that work.
Boutique & design properties
Small lodges, design hotels and fjord-side wilderness cabins, personally vetted. No chain hotels unless you want one.
Family-friendly options
Family rooms booked ahead, children's menus, gentler trails and child-safe boats. Nordic summer is one of the best family seasons there is.
Pacing for long days
Light first days, slow mornings, free afternoons. The midnight sun makes you want to do more; we plan less, on purpose.
